A Room Integrity Test is a process that is carried to determine how airtight a room is. Integrity tests are carried out as part of the design or validation of a gas suppression system which is designed to flood a room with fire suppressing gas.

How is a room integrity test carried out?

We use specialist ‘door fan’ equipment which forces air into the room increasing the air pressure inside. Based on the information provided from the door fan and dimensions of the room we can calculate the gas losses expressed as a ‘hole size’ (imagine a hole in one of the walls leaking air out). Depending on the requirements for the room this will then be a pass or fail. If it fails an investigation is carried out into where the leakages are, and if they can be sealed up, before a retest is carried out. With the knowledge of how airtight the room is, we can then calculate how much gas is required to protect fill it and protect its contents.

Do I need one?

If you have a total flooding gas suppression system on your site then it is good practice to have the room integrity tested periodically, or after any changes to the building have been made.

If you require a room integrity test please don’t hesitate to contact us for a free quotation.
