Vacancies

An aspirating smoke detection system (ASD) draws air from the protected space back to through a detector which continually monitors for very small amounts of smokes.

Why are they used?

The ASD system is often an essential part of the overall fire detection & alarm system. Reason for using an ASD would be for very early warning, Enhanced smoke sensitivity or an Alternative to point or beam type smoke detectors.

Do I need ASD?

There are several reasons for requiring an ASD system. This could be extreme conditions, restricted access, exceptional ceiling heights, aesthetics & hazardous environments.

Do they require maintenance?

As with all fire systems ASD’s require regular maintenance, to confirm performance and reduce the potential of false alarms. The maintenance should be carried out at least twice a year. The frequency of the maintenance should be adjusted if the equipment installed in dirty conditions, value or extent of the risk or practicalities of performing maintenance/testing of sampling points.
